TAIPEI, Taiwan – Oxo-Pro was born out of the idea of combining European design and product development with Asian effectiveness and networking.
“We want to produce our grips where our customers assemble the final product,” explains Ronny Höglund, founder of Oxo-Pro.
Höglund has more than 20 years of international experience and knowledge of the bicycle component market. “Over the years I have learned that Asians are very good in manufacturing. The cost of production between Europe and Asian are almost on the same level, so why not make the products in Asia? That’s also the place where a lot of bicycles and e-bikes destined for the European market are assembled.”
Höglund started his company with a range of ergonomic grips, the Comfort, Performance and Basic line. These not only comply with all standards and regulations but also come with an improved patent-pending lockring inside the grip. He also developed a standard plug which fits all handlebars with an inside diameter of between 15 and 19 mm. Until today, these dimensions required two different plugs. The Oxo-Pro plugs also protect the grip in case the bike falls over. They are standard Oxo-Pro branded but will be available in private labels as well.
Product availability
For the production of the grips, Höglund partners with an injection molding company that was not involved in the bicycle components industry. “Products are available as we speak,” says Höglund. “They are also expanding their capacity to meet future demand.” Next to the grips, Höglund expects his product range to expand in the future. “But let’s focus on the grips first.”
